Question by Gee: Where is the best location in Pattaya, Thailand to stay, in terms of nightlife, entertainment, etc?
Me and a few friends are heading to Pattaya in a few weeks. Where is the best location to stay in terms if close proximity to nightclubs, bars, entertainment, etc?

Basically, we want to be near the hustle and bustle and where everything is happening!

Where in Pattaya should we tell the cab driver to take us from Bangkok Airport?

Thanks!

Wherever you stay you are not far from any nightlife.I do this trip every year and it doesn’t matter where you decide to stay (Hotel etc) you will have nightlife wherever you are.

Choose a hotel that is on Pattaya 2nd Road or on a nearby soi. My preference is between Central and Mike Mall. Pattaya 2nd Road runs Parallel to Beach Road. From this area you can walk to many bars, restaurants, malls, street vendors, etc. You should choose a hotel first and then have the taxi take you to that location. (Bay Breeze Hotel, Honey Inn, Areca Lodge, Lek Hotel, Diana Inn, Siam Bay View, etc.) Hotels with air from around 500 baht on up to over 5000 baht. If daytime you can have the taxi drop you off on Soi Honey Inn or Soi Diana and you can go hotel hunting. Sample hotel and map:

Probably get a ‘ thumbs down ‘ for this answer, but you asked a question so here’s an answer. Hotspots in Pattaya are divided into several areas. I’ve visited 5 of them, but no doubt there are more…there are always more ! Working from north Pattaya southwards along Beach Road to Walking Street ( the ORIGINAL one, not the new shopping area named Walking Street as well ), action starts around Soi 2 where there are several bars large and small. Moving south, the next ( and some might say the ‘ hottest ‘ area ) is Soi 6 also known as Soi Yodsak. Good place to stay here is the Queen Victoria Inn. Moving on, Soi’s 7 and 8 are like a cattlemarket full of bars — very open and noisy. Avoid Soi’s 13, 13/1, 13/2 unless you are gay cos this is boys town. Walking Street should not need any explaining, but there are not many hotels on the street. Soi Bukao is a very lively street and runs parallel to Second Road ( which also runs parallel to Beach Road ). The entertainment runs the full length of the street and many Soi’s that branch off of it.
A good website listing hotels is http://www.wired-destinations.com. I’ve used them several times and they list Pattaya by area too.
To answer ‘ where should you tell the taxi driver to take you ‘ obviously depends on where you book a hotel. Better leave this one until you book then just show the driver the address.

It appears as if there is a beer bar complex in every block so bars aren’t any problem at all. I personally stay at Welkom Inn located between Sois 2 and 3 between Beach Road and Second Road. It’s a half block to the beach, there is a beer bar complex right next door, the bar there is known as a spot for an afternoon delight and there is a large beer bar complex on Second Road between Sois 2 and 3. While it’s on the north end of town, it’s close to 3 major massage parlors, has a couple go-go clubs near and 3 beer bar complexes within crawling distance. Big C, a major shopping center is there also. Getting around isn’t any problem because baht buses (pickup trucks with seats in the bed) are 10 baht and run a route down Beach Road to Walking Street and back up Second Road to the circle. While the hotel has construction ongoing, it’s low season so you should still be able to get rooms. If nothing else, the website has lots of good information about Pattaya. Enjoy the trip.

you have picked a bit of a bad time to go to Pattaya,a lot of the bars have shut down.and the ones that are open were empty 2 weeks ago.i am From Scotland, but i have a house in Thailand, there is lots of places to stay in Pattaya.every where is near the Nightlife and Entertainment, you cant escape it.i usually stay in The Areca Lodge Hotel,in Soi Diana.good value for money, has 2 swimming pools, one at the front and one at the back,it has a Gymnasium, and sports room, and all the bars are at your doorstep.good clean hotel.and have been dropped off by Elephant many times.as the other Guys said,Walking street has all you need, but there is bars everywhere.want to know more,E mail me..have fun.Andi

Hi the best location is around Soi 7/8 , and for great value hotel look at this link http://www.agoda.co.uk/asia/thailand/pattaya/centera_beach_hotel.html
its 2mins walk from everything = beach soi 7/8 and a 10 baht bus ride from walking st ( you can walk there in @ 7 mins)
for breakfast go to soi 7 – the pig and whistle or rosie o,Grady’s for pizza go to the globetrotter swedish restaurant http://www.globetrotter-thai.com/ if you look at the location of the globetrotter the centera hotel is straight across the central road
If youdintt book a hotel before you arrive you should tell the taxi driver to drop you off just after the hard rock hotel at central road and you can walk to every where from there
Also some hotel will charge you extra if you take a guest (girl) back to your room even if you have payed for a double , so its best to book the room for MR & MRS and tell them your mrs will arrive later , i dont know if the centera hotel does this but i do know the sunbeam hotel does
The taxi from bangkok should be @ 1000 baht you can also get a mini bus if theres more than 4 of you
